Ben Johnson is a Senior Content Coordinator on the e-commerce team at The North Face, where he owns in-region content strategy for high-profile brand collaborations with partners like Gucci, Supreme, SKIMS, KAWS, and more. He helped develop the mobile app content strategy, leads the site's UGC program, and coordinates with global and regional teams to align collection launches across the United States, English-speaking Canada, and French-speaking Canada. He holds an MA in Interactive Media from Elon University, along with a double BA in Communications Design and Cinema & Television Arts, a double minor in Computer Science and Digital Art, and a technical certificate in Music Technology.
Before joining The North Face in 2022, Ben built a diverse portfolio across media production and design. He has worked as a front-end web developer for the Terra Cotta Heritage Foundation, interned under writer/director David Ayer in Los Angeles, and continues to serve as head of design and brand identity for Cornelius Muller Productions, where he produced the company's most recent feature film and created the official trailers and theatrical posters for its feature releases. As a music producer and songwriter, he is currently a member of Observatory B and is writing the music for an original musical. He has also released solo work under the name Blas and scored short films. In 2021, he designed and developed Ghost Notes, an interactive narrative blending music production and game design.
content strategy & digital experiencethe north face
At The North Face, I lead content strategy and user journey design for global collaborations and product launches, working with creative, merchandising, and engineering teams to bring elevated digital experiences to life.
Collaboration — Spring/Summer 2024
The North Face × UNDERCOVER SOUKUU · user journey design, elevated product landing pages, targeted activity page strategy
SOUKUU was a four-season collaboration with Jun Takahashi's UNDERCOVER that reimagined TNF's technical performance gear through a fashion-forward lens. For the second drop, I designed the full user journey from teaser phase through launch, centered on an elevated product landing page (EPLP) — a format I had helped establish on earlier collaboration launches — that merged storytelling with shoppability. Before this approach, collections were typically split across two separate pages: one for brand narrative and one for transactions. The EPLP combined both, and the creative team brought it to life with editorial imagery, athlete features, and interactive product elements within a single shoppable experience.
Beyond the landing page, I developed a strategy for targeted assortments on activity pages — placing curated SOUKUU products at the top of the Men's Hike and Women's Trail Run pages to capture intent-based traffic. I specified that hero banners should feature TNF athletes with captions crediting them by name, reinforcing the Summit Series ethos of "Athlete Tested, Expedition Approved" and authentically validating the product's technical credibility.
Strategic Approach
By surfacing collaboration products on existing activity pages, we met shoppers where they already were — browsing for hiking or trail running gear — rather than relying solely on a destination landing page. This intent-based approach captured audiences who might never visit a collaboration page but were already primed for performance product.

Casentino Wool Collection · elevated landing page with parallax storytelling centered on material texture
The Casentino Wool Collection reimagines the iconic Denali jacket using centuries-old Italian wool from Tuscany — a fabric prized for its naturally curled texture, warmth, and durability. For the elevated landing page, I briefed the creative team to make the texture of the wool itself the hero, using a parallax treatment on a macro close-up of the bright red Casentino fabric. The effect creates an immediate, tactile connection — communicating the premium craft story through visual feeling before any product appears on screen.
↓ Recreated parallax hero — scroll to see effect
Naturally iconic.
Crafted with a distinct rugged texture that naturally traps heat. The Casentino Wool Collection blends time-honored Italian craft with modern performance.
Design Decision
Leading with a macro texture shot rather than a traditional product hero was a deliberate choice to differentiate the page from standard collection launches. The parallax movement adds depth that mirrors the physical dimensionality of the fabric, and the creative team's execution proved effective at communicating the collection's premium positioning before the visitor ever reaches the product grid.
The North Face × SKIMS · cross-functional creative strategy for a high-profile global collaboration
For the second TNF × SKIMS collaboration, I collaborated with global teams to help shape the creative strategy from its earliest stages. The secretive nature of the partnership meant there was no widely distributed brief — I worked directly with stakeholders across regions to align on how the collection would be presented across markets. The campaign, shot against the Chilean mountains, balanced SKIMS' signature body-conscious design language with TNF's technical credibility. The EPLP merged cinematic imagery with a clear, conversion-focused layout designed in partnership with the creative team.
The North Face × Cecilie Bahnsen · elevated product landing page with athlete-driven storytelling
The Cecilie Bahnsen collaboration brought sculptural femininity to TNF's performance fabrics. For the EPLP, I specified that TNF athletes Brooke Raboutou, Molly Thompson-Smith, and Solenne Piret should be credited by name in the campaign imagery — anchoring the collection in authentic athletic authority. This continued a pattern I established across collaboration launches: pairing editorial campaign photography with clear athlete attribution to reinforce the credibility of the product. The creative team designed the page to balance black-and-white editorial imagery with a shoppable product grid, furthering the EPLP approach of unifying storytelling and commerce.

I have worked with Cornelius Muller Productions since my time as an undergraduate at Elon University, growing from an intern into a core member of the production team. Across multiple feature films I served as head of design, responsible for the visual identity of the company and its releases — from theatrical posters to trailers to the production company's brand itself.
For Making Him Famous, the company's most successful theatrical release, I produced the official trailer and designed the theatrical poster used for marketing and distribution. For the most recent project, More Than Able, I was credited as a full producer in addition to again delivering the trailer and poster. I also designed and developed the Cornelius Muller Productions website and created the company's logo and 3D vanity card — the animated production mark shown before each CMP film.
The CMP vanity card was designed as a cinematic production mark — a 3D render of the original logo I created for the company. The mark appears before each Cornelius Muller Productions film.
